Lynn's Full Bio

Lynn Hooker was born in a small town in Arkansas, aprox. 20 miles south of Hot Springs. (Malvern). He left Malvern at the age of 4 and moved to Houston, Texas with his mother and little brother John.

Growing up in the Houston area, Lynn grew interested in music. By the time he could talk, he was singing to songs on the radio and juke boxes in the 60's. He and his brother were raised mainly by their mom, who encouraged him every step of the way with his vocal ability and interest in playing guitar and other instruments.

He would always sing, and when he did, it would draw attention from everyone within hearing distance. He entered into a singing contest in 5th grade in which he won first place and was presented an Ivory statue of J. Strauss-1849 and a certificate. His mom bought him his first guitar at the age of six. He soon taught himself a couple of chords and before long he was playing whole songs.

By the time he hit Jr. High he got involved with a friend at school with similar interests. The other boy played guitar as well. The missing link was drums. His mom found a cheap set of drums for Lynn, so he formed a two piece band. That year (1973) they performed in a talent show, Lynn playing drums and singing two songs by: C.C.R. (Who'll stop the rain and Long as I can see the Light). They took home first place in the competition.

1973 was the year he found Jesus and was saved. "Splendora First baptist Church" 36 miles north of Houston, Texas. That’s when he started singing and performing in church to honor the lord. He spent a short time in Kentucky, where he played radio shows live on Saturdays. He performed his first festival-concert in 1974 in West Liberty, Kentucky. The family then moved back to Houston.

After high school, Lynn started playing night clubs, and continued doing any other events that was available. His band was called Lynn Hooker And Southern Nights. He performed all over the greater Houston area and throughout South Texas -1978-1991" Lynn moved back to his original home town and put together a solo show – playing throughout Arkansas. As he called Arkansas his home, Houston kept on calling.
Traveling and performing shows, Lynn and wife Debbie got involved with an audio engineer out of Houston. Started working as a sound tech on the side – running sound for name artist such as Gene Watson, John Conlee, Jango Walker (Jerry Jeff's son), Kevin Fowler, and several other artist on the Texas charts. By 2005 he got burned out playing the club scene and all those smoky rooms. So he decided to try his hand at writing. Lynn started out writing contemporary country and rock-n-roll tunes.

Then one day while writing a song, every thought and idea that came to mind was in some way related back to the Lord. He realized at that moment what his calling from the Lord was all about! He put together his first album titled - Heroes In Heaven. The lights went out one night with a storm. He lit a kerosene lantern and wrote the title song in approx. 25 minutes.

Heroes In Heaven -Track #2- is about a boy going off to war and never returning. Track #1- Finding Jesus, a Rockin-n-Roll tune- tells how you can find the Lord anywhere you may go! Track # 7 The Good Book - Southern Rocker – The Importance of the Bible and part of Lynn's
view of what it stands for. Track #8 – Credit To The Man- Country all the way- Tells about a man getting out of prison, coming to know the Lord while he was there, loosing his family, then gaining faith in the Lord.
